Facebook-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp has announced that its support for devices running BlackBerry OS has been extended to 31st December 2017. It can be recalled that, in February 2016 WhatsApp announced it will end support for its application running on the operating system, including the latest BlackBerry OS 10, by the end of 2016.
Getting nearer to the end of 2016, the date was pushed further to 30th June, 2017, which has hence been extended again to 31st December, 2017.
To echo this seemingly-final support date, a new update hitting WhatsApp on BlackBerry devices has been dubbed “changed client end-of-life date to December 31, 2017” in the changelog.
This extension has also affected devices running on Nokia S40 and S60 Operating Systems to the end of 2017 and 30th June, 2017 respectively.
